Tyvek beads
I made these beads from Tyvek paper that had been colored using Shiva oil stiks....yes, stiks is how Shiva spells it. Fun and easy to make for such a dramatic result. I'll be using them for future embellishments.

Well Phyllis, I don't know if I've had my head in the sand or what but I didn't realise you kept a blog! What fun I have had reading through your older posts. I shall be a regular visitor now. :) I love those beads. Shiva stiks keep popping up all over the place now, I shall have to get hold of some.
To create those beads, color your tyvek with your paintsticks...I use the metallic colors. When dry, cut the sheet into loooong skinny triangles with a 3/4" base and about 3 " long. Starting with the wide end, roll the piece on a cheap wooden skewer and secure the tip with a touch of heat from the heat gun. Then just work the heat gun along the length of the bead and watch it shrivel. Let it cool and slide it off the skewer. EASY PEASY! You can get a bunch from one 8x10 tyvek sheet! Make the beads whatever length you need...depending on the length of the base you cut. Have fun!
I LOVE Your Tyvek beads.... Don't have the paint sticks but would it work with acryllic paints?Suppose all I have to do is try it!! hee hee Love your Blog. Found you on the Surface Design Yahoo Group as I was looking around . I just joined there and have been lurking!! I will introduce myself soon;-} ((((hugs))))) Maggie in Southern Ontario, Canada
Divorced late in life. 3 wonderful, considerate succesful children and 3 grand children following in their parents footsteps. I live independently and love it. A few regrets, but nothing that spoils my life.
